Reblog with a book you purchased solely because of the cover.
Because I’m curious. Admit it, we all have at some point in our lives have had our purchasing decision determined by a cover.
For me it was this:
I just couldn’t say no to a book with a Nazi riding a unicorn on the cover.
I’m not even going to lie, a significant factor in my deciding to (get my parents to) buy this book was because “OH MY GOD THE KID IN THE MIDDLE LOOKS SO MUCH LIKE RUSSIA.”
Luckily for me, it turned out that it was also a pretty darn good book - I’d definitely recommend it to people who like creepy middle-grade books. Not quite as dark as A Series of Unfortunate Events, but very similar sort of tone.
(And the kid, incidentally, does act quite Russia-y.)
I’m not even going to deny that I am an enormous colour-slut. And every single book in this quartet has a gorgeous detailed jewel-toned monochrome painting on the cover. So yes, basically I went ‘oo shiny!,’ nabbed it off the shelf, and then took a look at the summary just to make sure it was actually something I would read. And it was.
This turned out to be exactly what it looks like: swordy, a bit queer, and extremely awesome.

It’s actually called “Shark Lady” the sticker is covering up the Y. I think I bought this more because of the title than the cover tbh
